Cybersecurity Insider Threat Program Development
With a career in cybersecurity, operations, and intelligence, Mr. Thompson has worked with a diverse set of organizations ranging from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) in the government space to large corporates across the private sector and start-ups in the healthcare technology space, advising on technologies ranging from blockchain to infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). As Advisor to stakeholders of Cyber Nation Central, Mr. Thompson advises ventures as well as government and private sector executives and security teams on strategy development, threat intelligence, cybersecurity, and insider threat policy development.
Prior to Cyber Nation Central, Mr. Thompson was a Founding Member, Chief Security Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Trinity Cyber, a Washington, D.C. area cybersecurity firm that provides proactive, adaptive and invisible military-grade cybersecurity services focused on identifying external-adversary activity and proactively interceding on customers’ behalf. To bring the business to life, he led the development of the company’s business plan, fiscal budget, pitch strategy, and operational execution plans. Once initial funding was secured, Mr. Thompson devised and managed the company’s corporate infrastructure, ranging from information technology to facilities and corporate policies, all the meanwhile leveraging his experience with cyber-adversaries and security threat management.
Prior to Trinity Cyber, Mr. Thompson served as the Intelligence Community Strategy and Business Development Manager for a division of L3 Technologies, a ~$9.5bn in revenue global supplier of command and control, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems and products, avionics, ocean products, training devices and services, instrumentation, aerospace, and navigation products. There, Mr. Thompson helped identify opportunities and invest R&D resources to gain entry into new government and commercial clients. To achieve his mission, Mr. Thompson designed a comprehensive strategy, including risk mitigation opportunities, that gained the full support and confidence of senior executives.
Before joining L3, Mr. Thompson served nearly three decades in the U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community, leading elite organizations, directing R&D of highly-specialized technical equipment, developing elements of national security strategy, and generating policies and procedures for effective operations.
Mr. Thompson serves on the Board of Veteran’s Next Mission, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping veterans successfully transition from military service to civilian life by providing effective training for trades in the construction industry.
